Over 1,500 elementary students in the North Penn School District (NPSD) are gearing up for the Annual IRONKnights Elementary Triathlon on Saturday, May 14 beginning at 8 a.m. at North Penn High School.

A total of 1,570 students in kindergarten through sixth grade will compete in a three-part competition ranging in distances according to grade level which include biking, running, and swimming.

Students in kindergarten through second grade will begin bright and early at 8 a.m. swimming 20 yards, biking one mile and running a half-mile. Third and fourth graders will be next to follow at 11 a.m., swimming 20 yards, biking three miles and running three-quarters of a mile. Students in grades five and six will wrap up the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and swim 20 yards, bike five miles and run one full mile!

With the help of elementary school physical education teachers from throughout the district, as well as the IRONKnights Parent Support Group (IPSG), Jason Theodore, Phys. Ed. teacher at Montgomery Elementary, worked very hard in putting together such a great event to promote health, wellness, and hard work for elementary school students. Participants were provided opportunities to train for the event, including swimming practice sessions held at the high school.

Students will be cheered on by friends, family, and staff members for an afternoon of hard work, diverse exercise, and plenty of fun. Each student will be given a t-shirt for participating and awards will be distributed to the top three students with the fastest collective times in each grade level.
