Philadelphia Man Uses Brother’s Identity to Get Out of Traffic Stop, Police Say

Antonio Brown, 33, was charged on April 20 with a misdemeanor count of falsely incriminating another person and summary traffic offenses after he allegedly used his brother’s identity during a traffic stop in Montgomery Township in December 2021.

During the traffic stop, Brown allegedly identified himself as “Avi Brown,” and was informed by police he would be receiving citations in the mail. On the date of the hearing for the citations, however, the real Avi Brown appeared in court and informed police that his brother — Antonio — had been using his name and personal information since 2008.

Police then learned that Brown had a suspended license.

Charges were filed against Brown via summons. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 12 at 10 a.m.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause. All claims are merely allegations unless and until a conviction occurs.
