Foulkeways Resident Receives Community Service Award

Susanne Johnston, of Towamencin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, presents their Community Service Award to Foulkeways at Gwynedd resident

Helen Roth was presented with the Community Service Award by the Towamencin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) on April 28 at Foulkeways at Gwynedd, where she has been a resident since 2014. Helen was honored for her significant efforts helping residents at Foulkeways’ skilled nursing facility, Gwynedd House.

Helen, 86, has been a longtime volunteer with the program that provides juice and snacks and conversation each day to Gwynedd House residents, many of whom may see few visitors other than their medical team. When the chair of the program stepped down four years ago, Helen took the lead to recruit, train and supervise volunteers and coordinate the service with medical and supplies staff. She kept the program going when COVID-19 restrictions resulted in a shortage of volunteers. Helen currently oversees more than 20 volunteers who make the daily visits to residents.
