Suspect in Custody Following Standoff with Montco SWAT Team in Lansdale

A Lansdale man is in police custody after engaging the Montgomery County SWAT team in a standoff late Thursday morning.

It’s unclear at this time what triggered the standoff, however police and SWAT team members were dispatched to the 700 block of Shaw Avenue around 11:15 a.m. Access to the street was restricted as law enforcement engaged in an hour-long standoff, which ended around 12:15 p.m. with the suspect surrendering and subsequently being taken into custody.

Officials at the scene confirmed to North Penn Now that the suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Brian Bready. Court records show that Bready has been charged with felony criminal trespassing and misdemeanor defiant trespassing in connection with the standoff, however he has not yet been arraigned on the charges and the criminal complaint is unavailable.

Bready was previously arrested by Lansdale Borough Police at 12:20 a.m. on March 19 on a felony charge of criminal trespassing and misdemeanor defiant trespassing at the same location as the standoff. Court documents show that Bready was evicted from the residence on March 15 and a no trespassing sign was installed, however Bready re-entered the home on March 19 by removing the window from a rear door, police said.

No further information about the standoff is currently available. Lansdale Borough Police Lt. Ryan Devlin stated he will provide further information about the incident once the scene has been processed and cleared.
