Souderton Man Burglarized Outdoor Xtreme During Crime Spree Across Area, Police Say

Quentin Thompson, 20, of Souderton.

A Souderton man is facing felony burglary charges stemming from an alleged crime spree that saw him arrested by multiple police departments in the same night.

Quentin Thompson, 20, has been charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, in connection with the investigation by the Hilltown Township Police Department.

Police were dispatched to Outdoor Xtreme — located along the 300 block of Swartley Road in the Hatfield section of Hilltown Township — at 7:51 a.m. on Jan. 8 for a report of an overnight burglary. Upon arrival, police learned that a suspect had forced the door open with tools and stole a cash drawer containing $120, a petty cash bag containing $1,865 and two airsoft guns, according to the criminal complaint.

One of the airsoft guns was located outside of the business, and the empty cash drawer was later located in a parking lot along the 3400 block of Bethlehem Pike, police said.

A review of surveillance footage at Outdoor Xtreme the following day showed an unidentified male allegedly breaking into the location with a crowbar at 8:49 p.m. during the evening of Jan. 7. Once inside, the male grabbed the cash drawer, petty cash bag and two airsoft guns before fleeing the scene, police said.

While viewing the surveillance footage, investigators said they recognized the suspect from an unrelated call at the Walmart on Bethlehem Pike during the evening of Jan. 7. Additionally, investigators noted the presence of a U-Haul with an attached trailer carrying an ATV and dirt bike in the Walmart parking lot, as the dirt bike was involved in a police pursuit in Perkasie later that night, according to the complaint.

Surveillance footage from Walmart allegedly showed the suspect pulling out the stolen petty cash bag from Outdoor Xtreme and using the stolen cash to make a purchase, police said.

The suspect was ultimately identified as Thompson, following his arrest and release by the Perkasie Borough Police Department in connection with the police pursuit, the report states. After being released from custody, Thompson would again be arrested by the Eastern Bucks Regional Police Department the same evening on separate burglary charges, according to the complaint.

Eastern Bucks Regional Police were able to recover a “large sum” of money and the stolen airsoft gun from the U-Haul during Thompson’s arrest, the report states.

Hilltown Township Police initially filed charges against Thompson on Feb. 16, and he was subsequently taken into custody on Feb. 23, marking his third arrest from his alleged actions during the evening of Jan. 7. Court records show Thompson waived his preliminary hearing and his next court appearance is a formal arraignment scheduled for April 1 at noon at the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.

Thompson remains free on 10% of $50,000 cash bail, which was posted on March 4.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
