Lansdale Borough Police’s leadership just grew by two.
Officers James McVeigh, who joined the department four years ago, and Liam Pyskaty, a 21-year veteran of the department, were both promoted to sergeant March 3, upon being sworn in by Lansdale Borough Mayor Garry Herbert, according to Lansdale Borough Police’s Crimewatch page.
McVeigh, who will oversee patrol squad one, was with Upper Perkiomen Police for 10 years, according to Lansdale Police. He graduated from the county Police Academy in 2008. In his tenure, McVeigh has become a firearms instructor and coordinator for the county Drug Task Force, has represented the department as a member of the DUI Task Force, and has served on the Lansdale Borough Police Bike Unit. He was named Officer of the Year in 2019.
Pyskaty, who will oversee patrol squad four, joined Lansdale Borough Police in 2001, according to the release, having prior worked in Bangor Borough. Pyskaty, who has experience as a Field Training Officer, is an Allentown Police Academy graduate and serves on the Montgomery County SWAT Team, Central Division. Like McVeigh, he serves on the county Drug Task Force and is also a firearms instructor.

Furthermore, Lansdale Borough Police named Officer John Albany as its 2021 Officer of the Year in a ceremony last month. According to its Crimewatch release, all Lansdale Borough officers are asked in December to vote for an Officer of the Year based on individual work performance, team performance, and positive attitude.
This was the seventh year that Lansdale Borough Police awarded an Officer of the Year. You can see past Officers of the Year here.
