Congressman Fitzpatrick Heading to Ukrainian Border

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will join five other members on a weekend delegation to Europe.

The three-term Republican from Middletown Township spoke of the trip on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” morning show Friday. The trip is reported to be headed to the Ukrainian border and other locations in Europe.

Fitzpatrick said the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is a personal matter because he has supported the nation as a member of Congress and time he spent there while serving as an FBI special agent.

“We’re just horrified at the images we’re seeing,” Fitzpatrick told the show hosts.

The congressman said the group of lawmakers want to personally see that weapons and other supplies are making it from neighboring nation’s into Ukraine. The group aims to talk with officials from allied nations.

The congressional delegation with Fitzpatrick will be made up of members David Cicilline, a Democrat from Rhode Island; Gerry Connolly, a Democrat from Virginia; Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas; Gregory Meeks, a Democrat from New York; and Ann Wagner, a Republican from Missouri.

Fitzpatrick has denounced the invasion of Ukraine and called on America to offer more support and take stricter actions against Russia.

In the Fox News Channel interview, Fitzpatrick told the hosts he believes President Joe Biden’s administration could have been doing even more before the attack.

“Every day we wait we could be costing Ukrainian lives,” he said.

“We’re huge Ukraine supporters,” he added.

When asked, Fitzpatrick told the hosts he didn’t know many details on the trip and others couldn’t be shared in advance.

Fitzpatrick and a bipartisan group of lawmakers on Wednesday introduced the Ukrainian Protection Act of 2022.

The proposed legislation would grant Ukrainians currently in the U.S. temporary protected status to prevent deportation during the war.

Politico reported Fitzpatrick was handing out miniature Ukrainian flags to his peers before Tuesday’s State of the Union address.
