Hatfield Township Celebrates 100th Birthday Of WWII Veteran, Purple Heart Recipient

Fraternity brothers help Dr. Harris celebrate his 100th

Hatfield Township celebrated the century mark of one of its own in style last weekend.

The township's police, volunteer firefighters, public works employees and commissioners turned out to wish a happy 100th birthday to Dr. William H. Harris.

Dr. Harris is a veteran of World War II and is a recipient of the Purple Heart, for being wounded twice in battle, according to a report in the Philadelphia Tribune. He earned a PhD in Economics from Penn State and is a published poet.

But what stood out during his celebration with his fraternity brothers from Omega Psi Phi, according to the report on the Hatfield Township Facebook page, was "his humility and kindness."
