During last week’s Lansdale Borough Council Business Meeting, council officially announced Courtney Meehan as the new Parks and Recreation Director.

“I’m really excited to join this awesome team. The Parks and Recreation Department staff is so knowledgeable about the parks and community as a whole,” Meehan said. “They’re an incredible asset to the borough and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work with them.”

Meehan graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management. She worked in commercial recreation and non-profit before settling into community recreation post-graduation.

Prior to being named the new Parks and Recreation Director for Lansdale Borough, she worked at Whitpain Township for nearly 11 years as a program coordinator. In Whitpain Township, she managed programs, camps, special events, marketing, the website, and hiring seasonal staff.

As director, her responsibilities include budgeting, grants, capital projects, managing staff, and overseeing the overall park system, among other duties.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the residents and serving the community,” Meehan said. “Everyone has been so welcoming, and it truly seems like a wonderful place to live and work.”

Meehan replaces Karl Lukens, who recently resigned after three years in the position to take on a new job elsewhere.
