Details Released in Whitpain Assault, Suspect Accused of Raping Woman in Roxborough Hours Prior

A Brooklyn, NY man is facing felony charges stemming from the random assault of a woman in Whitpain Township last week, and investigators believe he is responsible for similar unprovoked attacks in Philadelphia and Roxborough.

Malcom White, 36, has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault, robbery, and robbery of a motor vehicle, as well as misdemeanor counts of simple assault and strangulation in connection with the June 16 unprovoked attack of a woman on Jolly Road.

Police responded to the scene at 10:06 a.m. and made contact with the female victim, who was bleeding from her nose and mouth. Investigators noted pools of blood and blood smears inside of the victim’s vehicle as well as outside of the vehicle.

The victim told police she was sitting in her vehicle along the 900 block of Jolly Road when White appeared and stood between her and the door of the vehicle. White then allegedly grabbed the victim by her hair, pulled her out of the vehicle, repeatedly punched her in the face, and then placed her into a chokehold, causing the victim to lose consciousness.

When the victim regained consciousness, she said she saw White inside of her vehicle and ran towards a nearby office building where her fellow employees took her to a safe location. White then fled the scene on foot westbound on Jolly Road, according to charging documents.

White was ultimately found laying in an area of high vegetation by a police canine unit and was subsequently taken into custody.

In the hours prior to the Whitpain Township assault, White allegedly raped a woman as she walked to work along the 6100 block of Ridge Avenue in Roxborough. He’s been charged with rape, aggravated assault and related offenses in connection with that incident, according to a 6ABC report.

Additionally, White has been charged with randomly attacking multiple women in South Philadelphia during the evening of June 15. Surveillance footage captured the assault, and White is facing multiple assault charges in connection with the incident, 6ABC reports.

White is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 cash bail. His next court appearance on the Whitpain Township charges is a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 28 at 9:30 a.m. in front of District Judge Suzan Leonard.

According to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, White was on probation out of New York at the time of the recent string of assaults.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
