Pa. House Passes Bill Renaming Local Road In Honor Of Rep. Godshall

Former State Rep. Robert "Bob" Godshall.

State Rep. Steve Malagari (D-Montgomery) voted with his state House colleagues last week to unanimously pass a bill that includes his effort to dedicate a section of a state route in the memory of a longtime legislator.

H.B. 1560, which is headed to Governor Wolf for his signature, designates numerous roads and bridges across Pennsylvania in honor of those who devoted their lives to public service.

The legislation would rename a portion of Route 113, from the intersection with Schoolhouse Road in Franconia Township, and County Line Road in Souderton Borough, as the Honorable Robert W. Godshall Memorial Highway.

"I’m so pleased language I originally introduced in 2021 has been included in the bill that passed this week to honor former state Representative Robert W. Godshall,” Malagari said. "I am so fortunate to occupy the seat once held by Rep. Godshall, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how his life of service continues to have a positive effect on the people and communities in Montgomery County.”

Godshall served in the state House from 1983 through his retirement in 2018. Godshall died on Nov. 24, 2019, at the age of 86.

After passage Tuesday, H.B. 1560 heads to the desk of Gov. Tom Wolf for his signature.
