Nor-Gwyn Baseball & Softball inducted a legend into their Hall of Fame last Wednesday, bringing the total number of honorees to 20 since the hall’s establishment in 1999.
Surrounded by family, friends, former players, board members, and previous hall inductees at Hostelley Field, North Wales native Jim Rittenhouse accepted his Hall of Fame plaque,
according to The Reporter. Rittenhouse also received Pennsylvania Legislative Citations from State Repr\. Liz Hanbidge and State Sen. Maria Collett (both D.-Montgomery).
"I love baseball. For me, it’s the only sport,” Rittenhouse said during his acceptance speech. "Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.”
In 1983, Rittenhouse was a T-ball player for Nor-Gwyn. He has been coaching baseball in the Youth League, Connie Mack and American Legion since 1996. He sits on the league board of directors and served as Field Director and Fall Baseball Commissioner.
Rittenhouse has served six years as the Youth Baseball Tournament Team Commissioner of the Nor-Gwyn organization. He established the "Angel In the Outfield” program to provide support for areas of interest to the program and its members in 2021.
Rittenhouse was awarded the Larry Meyers Coach of the Year award in 2011.
"I truly do not believe that there is a human being living on this Earth that is more deserving of this honor, or someone who can appreciate it more than Jimmy Rittenhouse,” North Penn High School coach Kevin Manero, who coached for many years with Rittenhouse at Nor-Gwyn,
said to The Reporter. "The only thing that surpasses what Nor-Gwyn has meant to Jimmy is probably what Jimmy has meant to Nor-Gwyn.”
