The following is a letter concerning administrative changes, sent to families with students in the North Penn School District, from new Superintendent Todd M. Bauer. Names have been set in bold by NPN for readability.
Dear North Penn Families,
As the next North Penn School District Superintendent, I am honored that the NPSD Board of School Directors has entrusted me with cultivating a leadership team for North Penn that will create the best possible lineup to serve our school community. Frequently during the summer, staffing changes are announced based on needs, requests and vacancies.
To that end, my current position as assistant superintendent will not be filled at this time.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. D’Ana Waters will continue in her leadership role with primary responsibilities involving elementary education, special education, curriculum and equity. Due to this structural change, vacant positions in our schools, and leadership needs in new areas related to possible renovations at North Penn High School, several administrators will be taking on new roles and responsibilities within NPSD this summer and additional hires will be made.
This does cause several leadership changes at the school level, which I know means that our staff and families will have questions about these important transitions. I want to assure you that if your school is experiencing a change in leadership, you will have ample opportunities to get to know the new school leader. More information will be coming soon on this topic.
For now, here are the recommendations that will go before the school board on Thursday, June 16th.
- Ms. Dana Kenney will become Principal of North Wales Elementary School where she has been serving as Interim Principal since December. She has done an exceptional job and is the right choice after the announcement of the current principal’s retirement.
- Dr. Marie Kim is the recommended candidate for Montgomery Elementary School Principal. She is currently a principal in the Abington School District. Dr. Kim is an experienced educational leader with expertise in instruction and prides herself on providing a welcoming learning environment for all students.
- Mr. TJ Seidenberger (currently principal of Montgomery Elementary School) will move to NPHS as Assistant Principal. He has been eager to move to the secondary level and his experience as principal will be a great asset to the leadership team at NPHS.
- Moving to A. M. Kulp Elementary School will be Dr. Sara Rattigan (currently assistant principal at NPHS). Dr. Rattigan has been an assistant principal at NPHS for six years. She is an excellent communicator, builds terrific rapport with families and students, and is excited to transition to the elementary level. She fills the position due to the resignation of the previous principal for another position outside of NPSD.
- Mrs. Jen Sicinski is the recommended candidate for Principal of Knapp Elementary School. She is currently a school climate coordinator and the leader of our elementary virtual academy. Mrs. Sicinski has proven to be an excellent leader in a variety of roles throughout the district.
- Mr. Stefan Muller (currently principal at Knapp Elementary School) will move to Penndale Middle School as principal. He has been an administrator in NPSD for seven years. He was an assistant principal at NPHS and has been the principal at Knapp for the last four years while leading the renovation project. His experience at the secondary level and master scheduling expertise make him an excellent choice.
- Moving to NPHS as Principal will be Mr. Kyle Hassler (currently Penndale Middle School Principal). Mr. Hassler has been an administrator in NPSD for nine years and served as Principal of Northbridge School before moving to Penndale. He is innovative, fearless, student-centered and will make an excellent high school principal.
- Finally, Mr. Pete Nicholson (currently NPHS Principal) is the recommended candidate for Administrator of Secondary Education and Renovations. Mr. Nicholson has been at NPHS for nine years, has the trust of the staff and the community, and has a unique understanding of the high school logistics. Mr. Nicholson’s primary responsibilities will include the oversight of secondary athletics, extra-duty contracts, transfers of attendance, NPSD research requests, facility use at NPHS, secondary staffing, collaboration with North Montco Technical Career Center, and the academic logistics of the NPHS renovation. The latter portion of this position will include stakeholder focus groups and campus logistics for parking, traffic, athletics, and beyond!
Again, if changes are occurring at your school, you will hear from us soon with further details.
Sincerely,
Todd M. Bauer, Ed. D.
Assistant Superintendent - North Penn School District
