Lansdale Man Charged with Indecent Exposure After Flashing Genitals on East Main Street Near School, Police Say

A Lansdale man is facing charges after he allegedly flashed his genitals last week at passing motorists on East Main Street in the area of Mater Dei Catholic School and the North Penn YMCA.

Daniel Lareau, 51, has been charged with indecent exposure and public drunkenness in connection with the June 7 incident.

Police were dispatched to the area of the 600 block of East Main Street around noon for a report of a suspicious male in the area of the school and YMCA. The 9-1-1 caller stated that an older male was walking down the street with no shirt on, and his genitals deliberately exposed over the waistband of his pants, according to the criminal complaint.

Upon arrival, police encountered Lareau, whom they described as highly intoxicated with slurred speech, glassy eyes and having a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his person. Police said they recognized Lareau — who is homeless — as he has been charged at least six times in the last month for public drunkenness by different area police departments.

The report states that Lareau was unaware of his surroundings and could not maintain his balance on his own. School was currently in session at Mater Dei at the time of the incident, police said.

Lareau was taken into custody and arraigned by District Judge James Gallagher, who set bail at $577, which is a code for a parole or probation detainer being filed. He is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and his preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 13 at 2:45 p.m. in front of District Judge Ed Levine.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
