The former Genuardi’s location in Towamencin Township is one step closer to housing a new grocery store, as Towamencin Supervisors voted unanimously to authorize staff to prepare the preliminary and final plan resolutions for the project.
Last month, the public learned that an unnamed grocery store had signed a lease to occupy the former Genuardi’s location at The Shops at Town Square — formerly known as the Towamencin Shopping Village — at the intersection of Allentown and Forty Foot roads. An attorney for the developer, citing a non-disclosure agreement, stated name of the tenant cannot be revealed for at least a few more months, as negotiations are being finalized and the architectural process moves along.
During Wednesday night’s meeting, developers requested relief for three issues involving pipe materials, relocation of a loading dock and a setback for a trash area. Towamencin Supervisors then authorized staff to include the waivers in the resolutions along with compliance with the consultant review letters.
Towamencin officials also had an extensive agenda item on proposed signage for the location, with one rendering looking like the exterior of an Amazon Fresh, sans logo. The lease holder, however, has still not been publicly disclosed. (We will have a separate story on the proposed signage on Monday.)
