Award-Winning Ex-Whitpain Parks Director Takes Helm of Lansdale Parks Department June 13

Courtney Meehan, the former Whitpain Township Parks and Recreation Director, beat out 22 applicants to be named the new Lansdale Borough Parks and Recreation Director, effective June 13, according to The Reporter.

Meehan joins a parks and recreation department rich in legacy and accomplishments, thanks in major part to the late and beloved Carl Saldutti. Saldutti died in 2018 after working for the Lansdale Parks Department for 40 years. Saldutti’s successor, Karl Lukens, was on the job for three years before resigning for Abington Township, per The Reporter.

Meehan will be introduced to the public at-large at the June 15 Lansdale Borough Council meeting.

Per the report, Meehan was one of 22 original applicants. She impressed the borough enough to be in the final four.

The Penn State graduate was an award-winning parks and recreation director during her 11-year tenure at Whitpain Township. Meehan also had experience with the Upper Dublin Township parks system and YMCAs in Seattle and South Carolina, per the article.

When Meehan takes the helm next week, just as summer is ramping up, she will be amid a lot of event planning, including the July 16 Mayor Mike DiNunzio gazebo dedication in Memorial Park and a July 9 Open Gardens Tour.
