Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail has released additional details from Monday night’s shooting on West Fifth Street, as investigators continue their search for what could ultimately be multiple gunmen.
The shooting occurred at 9:30 p.m. on June 6 along the 300 block of West Fifth Street. Arriving police found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, which non-police sources described as non-life-threatening wounds to the victim’s arm and hand areas.
The victim was transported from the scene via ambulance to Grand View Hospital for treatment of the injuries.
Police on scene were observed scanning through Fifth Street Park with their flashlights, as well as speaking to witnesses and neighbors. Multiple cameras in the area, including one affixed to the former Fifth Street Pub location, are believed to have captured the incident on surveillance.
A canine unit from the Montgomery Township Police Department was also present at the scene of the shooting.
In a phone interview with North Penn Now, Trail stated the preliminary investigation has identified potentially two shooters, and added the victim was known to the suspects and was specifically targeted. The shooting was not a random act of violence, Trail said.
Trail confirmed multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene, adding the suspects are being sought by police and are still believed to be armed.
“We’re working feverishly to identify and locate [the shooters],” Trail said.
Trail declined to provide further details, citing the preliminary nature of the investigation and to ensure only accurate information is provided to the public. He said he hopes to provide additional details in the coming days.
