Monday Lockdown of Pennridge Schools Caused by Man Wielding Two Swords, Police Say

A man wielding two swords caused the lockdown of Pennridge High School and Pennridge North Middle School for more than two hours Monday morning and afternoon, until a K-9 unit and a drone found him near Minsi Trail and Schwenkmill Road, according to Pennridge Regional Police Department.

Police said the man, whose age was not released, had been in an argument with his mother in their East Rockhill Township home on the 600 block of Campus Drive around 11 a.m. Monday. The man then fled south on a walking path on Branch Road wielding two swords, police said.

The man was located two hours later and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Upper Bucks County for a mental health evaluation, per the report.

The Bucks County Courier Times said the man will face criminal charges.

Pennridge Regional Police were assisted by Bedminster Township Police’s drone operator, Hilltown Township Police, Perkasie Borough Police, the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office, Souderton Community Ambulance Corps, and Central Bucks Regional Police’s K-9 unit, according to the Courier.

According to the newspaper, this was the third lockdown for Bucks County schools since last month when two Bristol Township schools were locked down for a report of a student with a gun, which ended up being false. In the same month, per the newspaper, two Warminster schools were locked down for nearby robbery investigations.
