Hilltown Man Charged After Attempting to Cash Fraudulent Check, Police Say

A Hilltown Township man was arrested and charged May 27 with multiple fraud offenses after he allegedly attempted to fraudulently withdraw $4,000 from an account at the Quakertown National Bank on Souderton Road.

William Dordan, 54, has been charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, forgery, access device fraud, identity theft, possession of controlled substances and use and possession of drug paraphernalia, in connection with the investigation.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the scene at 2:49 p.m. for a potential fraud in progress. Upon arrival, police made contact with Dordan, who initially introduced himself as “Jay Bujos.” Employees told police that Dordan first visited the Perkasie branch and arrived at the Hilltown branch shortly after to withdraw money from an account belonging to “Jay Michael Bujos,” the report states.

Dordan allegedly provided a fake New Jersey driver's license displaying the account holder’s name, then filled out a saving/checking withdrawal slip provided by the teller, requesting $4,000. Police reviewed the driver’s license and confirmed that Dordan was not the account holder, the report states.

The account holder later confirmed with police that he did not give anyone permission to access money from his account.

Dordan was arraigned by District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at 10% of $10,000 cash. He posted bail on June 6 and is currently awaiting his preliminary hearing.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
