At least one victim was struck by gunfire during a shooting on West Fifth Street in Lansdale Monday night.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of West Fifth Street and Towamencin Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on June 6 for a report of a shooting. Police at the scene declined to provide details of the incident, beyond confirmation that a shooting had occurred.
Multiple corroborating sources told North Penn Now that a male victim was struck by one or two bullets in their arm or hand area. The victim was transported from the scene via ambulance prior to our arrival.
Additional sources stated that the shooting occurred following a foot pursuit involving multiple male suspects, however we have not been able to corroborate those details at this time.
Investigators on scene were scanning with flashlights through the nearby basketball courts at Fifth Street Park, while others spoke to witnesses and neighbors. A canine unit from the Montgomery Township Police Department was also present.
Multiple cameras in the area, including one affixed to the former Fifth Street Pub location are believed to have captured the incident on surveillance. The scene remains active at this time, and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
We expect an update from police to occur sometime in the morning.
