Revisit 'Dealers Through The Decades' At Lansdale 150 Auto Show Saturday

For a borough whose motto is "Life in Motion," much of Lansdale’s momentum has been driven by the growth of the automobile industry — and the many dealerships that populated the town over the past century-plus.

In recognition of that heritage, revisit some of that history in gleaming chrome and steel on Saturday,  July 30, starting at 1 p.m., when the Lansdale 150 Committee hosts the "Dealers Through The Decades Auto Show” at Weaver Field at Memorial Park.

The public is invited to register cars for the show; pre-registration is open until Thursday night, and day-of registration costs $10 and starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Line and Penn Streets. Register online by clicking here, or visit lansdale150.org/auto-show. Judging starts at 2 p.m.

To date, more than 60 cars are registered for the show. Lansdale 150 sponsors Bergey’s Auto and Lansdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT will also be hosting displays, and vintage vehicles originally purchased new from local dealerships will be shown, along with food trucks and music.

A limited number of souvenir event T shirts will be for sale.

The event will be held rain or shine, and runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Penn Street and Park Drive will be closed alongside the field for the event. Admission is free. For more information, contact [email protected] or visit lansdale150.org.

After the Auto Show, Lansdale’s grand Sesquicentennial Celebration will reach a crescendo in August:
  • A huge anniversary parade will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, down Main Street in Lansdale, starting at 5 p.m.; all are welcome to come watch, or to participate by registering at lansdale150.org/parade (deadline is August 7).
  • Join your friends and neighbors at a Community Picnic, on Wednesday, Aug. 24 — the actual date of the borough’s birth — at Memorial Park. No registration required, just bring a picnic or patronize one of the local vendors. Details to follow.
  • On Saturday, Aug. 27, all day and all around town, a super-sized Founders Day 150 will be held, with live music, train rides, the annual Festival of the Arts in Memorial Park, an open house and art show at the Lansdale Historical Society, family games and fun, beer garden, health fair, vendors — all the features you’ve come to love — plus a bigger and brighter fireworks finale!
  • And on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m., join the Lansdale Historical Society in a ceremony honoring Lansdale’s SEPTA Passenger Station on being named to the National Register of Historic Places.
