A jury trial has been scheduled for a Hatfield Township man accused of repeatedly raping a young girl over a five-year period.
Court records show that 48-year-old Brian Marchini will head to trial between Nov. 21 and Nov. 23 at the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. Marchini was charged in January 2021 with felony counts of rape – forcible compulsion, rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, false imprisonment, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, as well as related misdemeanor offenses in connection with the investigation.
Marchini remains free on $250,000 cash bail, which was posted in the weeks after his arrest.
According to the criminal complaint, Lansdale Police received information on Nov. 2, 2020, relating to a female who had repeatedly been sexually assaulted as a child. The victim — now an adult — stated that she was sexually abused by Marchini over a five-year period when she was between the ages of 5 and 9 years old, police said.
The report states that the assaults took place at several different locations across the area, all while the victim was in the care of Marchini. The abuse stopped after the victim turned 9 years old, police said.
Marchini was taken into custody on Jan. 7, 2021, and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, who set bail at $250,000 cash. Marchini was initially remanded to county jail after failing to post bail, however court records show he was released after posting bail on Jan. 21, 2021.
All charges were held over for trial at Marchini’s preliminary heating on Jan. 27, 2021, and the case has undergone several pre-trial hearings since his formal arraignment in April 2021. Court records show the November jury trial was officially scheduled last week.
