According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred around 8:19 a.m. on July 24 along the 400 block of Church Road. Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania reports that the pedestrian was on the tracks and was struck by a SEPTA train as it approached the Pennbrook Train Station.
It’s currently unclear if the death was the result of an accident or a suicide. Investigators have not released any identifying information as of Monday morning.
WFMZ reported on Sunday a SEPTA official stated the train operator was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian, as it travelled towards Philadelphia along the Lansdale/Doylestown line. Investigators told WFMZ that no foul play was suspected.
Service along the Lansdale/Doylestown line was suspended for almost two hours, resuming normal service around 10 a.m., according to reports.
