Man Accused of Raping 7-Year-Old Girl in Hatfield

A New York man is in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF) after he allegedly raped a 7-year-old girl in Hatfield Township.

Jordan Torres, 19, of Bronx, NY, has been charged with two counts of rape of a child, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, two counts of sexual assault, and related misdemeanor offenses, in connection with the investigation by the Hatfield Township Police Department.

Torres is currently being held at county jail in lieu of $99,000 cash bail.

Investigators received a ChildLine referral in May 2021 concerning the suspected sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl at her home in Hatfield Township. The referral alleged that Torres took off his clothes in front of the girl and requested oral sex, which she then did.

Torres was known to the victim and her family, however the nature of their relationship is being withheld by this news organization.

In June 2021, the victim was interviewed by police, at which time she disclosed she was being sexually abused by Torres, according to charging documents. The victim stated she was watching cartoons when her parents left and Torres subsequently entered her room, at which point Torres kissed her, took off his clothes and requested oral sex, the report states.

Court records indicate the date of offense as March 1, 2021.

Torres was officially charged on July 8, and was taken into custody on July 18, at which point he was arraigned by District Judge Paul Leo, who set bail at $250,000 cash. A bail review hearing was held the following day, in which Common Pleas Judge Henry Hilles lowered the bail to $99,000 cash.

The adjusted bail setting is notable, as anyone being held at MCCF on bail of $100,000 or more is placed in administrative segregation on 23-hour lockdown. With the bail reduction, Torres was placed into the jail’s general population.

Torres’ next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on July 27 at 9 a.m. in front of Judge Leo.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
