A new home-based bakery selling decorative sugar cookies, hot chocolate bombs, and chocolate-covered pretzels, has officially launched and is currently taking online orders.
Based in North Wales Borough, the Joyful Llama Cookie Company was founded by Anne Madjar, who grew up in a family of artists and bakers. Madjar, a former therapist, cryptological linguist for the United States Army, and a writer, said making cookies and creative food creations quickly became a big part of her life.
Madjar was initially inspired to make food art for her sons, Nick and Mike, to encourage them to eat their vegetables. She would make “designer dinners” related to their interests, including Minecraft and Angry Birds.
“I started out with that and it kind of evolved into cookies because I could be more creative and do more with cookies,” Madjar said.
After receiving plenty of positive feedback from friends and family, she started her business in April and publicly launched this month.
The home-based kitchen has been inspected and licensed by the PA Department of Agriculture and follows all state and federal guidelines to maintain the highest food safety standards.
Cookies and treats will be custom ordered and paid in advance. There will also be monthly subscriptions. Details can be found on Joyful Llama Cookie Company’s website. Cookies will also be sold at Alice’s Bakery beginning on July 30. Customers will be able to purchase individual cookies and small boxes.
“I love living in North Wales,” Madjar said. “It's an honor to get to have a business here. I just am looking forward to serving the community and hopefully bringing some sunshine and brightness into people’s lives through cookies and other fun treats.”
