Telford Man Sentenced to Jail, Probation for Stalking Female Neighbor

A Telford man has been sentenced to jail and probation after pleading guilty to stalking and trespassing charges stemming from an October 2021 incident involving his female neighbor.

Rajendrakumar Patel, 53, of Telford, pleaded guilty in March to misdemeanor charges of stalking, terroristic threats, and defiant trespassing, along with summary counts of harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, court records show. Last month, Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Wallace Bateman Jr. sentenced Patel to six-to-23-months in county jail, followed by four years’ probation.

As part of the sentence, Patel is prohibited from having contact with the victim and must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation. Court records show Patel was given credit for a week of time served and will be screened for the jail’s work release program.

The charges stem from an October 2021 incident in Telford Borough

According to the criminal complaint, Telford Borough Police were dispatched to a home on Village Green Lane at 4:57 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2021, for a report of criminal trespassing. Arriving officers spoke with the victim, who stated that she had gone downstairs from her bedroom to the kitchen when she heard the front door and saw her neighbor — identified as Patel — standing in her foyer, the report states.

Police said the victim repeatedly told Patel to get out of her house, but he ignored the requests — instead calling the victim “cute” and attempting to flirt with her. The victim said she was extremely uncomfortable and fearful, according to the complaint.

Patel then paced around the victim’s living room, staring at photos of her family on the walls, the report states. He then made comments that he had been watching the victim for a while as she worked from home, according to the complaint.

Police said Patel eventually left the home, telling the victim to refrain from telling her husband what had happened.

Responding officers made contact with Patel, whom they described as intoxicated, the report states. Once in custody, and after being informed that he was being audio and visually recorded, Patel stated that when he is released, he “will f---ing kill” the victim’s husband. Patel repeated that statement multiple times afterwards, police said.

While still in custody, Patel also made another spontaneous utterance that “She had her door open, she pretty much wanted me to come in there,” police said.
