For the fourth time this year, a Bucks County Correctional Facility inmate has died while in custody.
The 50-year-old male inmate was pronounced dead Thursday morning at Doylestown Hospital, according to a statement from county officials.
The death was being investigated by the Bucks County Detectives and Bucks County Department of Corrections.
No further details were released by county authorities.
The latest death marks the fourth this year and second this month.
The first death of 2022 at the jail happened in March. inmate Edwin Dunfee, 46, of Philadelphia, died at the facility by suicide.
In June, Christopher Robert, 25, of New Hope, killed himself by purposely choking on food at the jail, the coroner said.
Earlier this month, Floyd Harper, 37, of Tullytown Borough, died by suicide while jailed on charges filed by Amtrak police.
Over the past seven years, Bucks County has reported six inmate suicides, one homicide, and several medical-related deaths at the correctional facility, according to Pennsylvania Department of Correction’s extraordinary occurrence statistics and this news organization’s tally.
