The annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway in Montgomery Township will now be renamed the annual Roy Rodriguez Tree Giveaway, following a unanimous vote by township supervisors earlier this week.
During Monday night’s meeting, the Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors recognized Roy Rodriguez for his years of volunteer service and dedication to the township. Rodriguez is a long-time resident and volunteer, serving on the Shade Tree Commission for 26 years and on the Open Space Committee for 18 years.
“He is just someone that we have tremendous respect for and wanted to demonstrate our appreciation for all that he has done and given to the township,” Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Tanya Bamford said.
Rodriguez currently serves as the chair for the Shade Tree Committee and will be stepping down due to a personal illness. He was involved with the planning, design, and development of Memorial Grove and served on the Peace Park Committee to establish the Korean War Memorial America-Korea Alliance Peace Park.
