Discover Lansdale to Host ‘Community Day in the Park’ Event Saturday

Discover Lansdale is bringing back the Community Day in the Park event July 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Memorial Park after its initial introduction more than five decades ago.

“With this year being Lansdale’s 150th anniversary, we were trying to kind of recreate a few of these long-lost annual events, at least for this one time this year,” Discover Lansdale board member Bill Henning said.

Guests are encouraged to bring items to sell or to simply enjoy the event with their friends and family.

“It's important that the community comes out to do things together, see each other, talk to each other, and enjoy each other's company,” Henning said. “Memorial Park is a great setting to do such a thing.”

The event is a community-wide yard sale with food, music, old-time games, and vendors including residents, organizations, and businesses.

Food vendors include:

  • Lansdale Lions Club - Sausage sandwiches
  • American Legions - Hot dogs and Hamburgers
  • Giulian's Deli - Hoagies & breakfast sandwiches
  • TUCKEDITO Taquitos - freshly rolled, tucked taquitos

Activities include hay wagon rides by BucksMont Two Cylinder Antique Tractor Club and a cornhole tournament with different age brackets.

The Community Day in the Park event will include music by Evans Entertainment, North Pennsmen Barbershop Chorus and The Liberty Belles Chorus.

There will also be an official gazebo dedication for the late Michael DiNunzio, "Mayor Mike," at 1 p.m. The structure will be in the space where the fountain and pond were once located, between the memorial markers and Weaver Field.

“There's been a lot of people working very hard the last two months to make this happen,” Henning said. “It's a beautiful new centerpiece for Memorial Park.”
