Multiple People Wounded in Thursday Night Shooting in Lansdale, Suspect Not in Custody [UPDATED]

UPDATE: July 7, 11:31 p.m. – In a phone interview with North Penn Now, Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail confirmed that three men were injured in a shooting along the unit block of West Hancock Street earlier this evening.

Trail confirmed the shooter fled the scene, and no arrests have been made. Trail added that this is not an active shooter situation and stated that the preliminary investigation indicates that the victims were targeted.

“We do not believe this was a random act,” said Trail.

When asked if Thursday night’s shooting was connected to a shooting that occurred on West Fifth Street on June 6, Trail said investigators hadn’t made a connection yet but couldn’t rule it out.

“We’re working on [the West Hancock shooting] as possibly connected, but I can’t confirm there is  connection right now,” said Trail. “These shootings in Lansdale are not a common occurrence, so it’s possible.”

The injuries sustained by the three victims were described by Trail as non-life threatening.

The gunman has not been apprehended and is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Lansdale Borough Police Department at 215-368-1801. Tips can also be submitted anonymously and electronically here.

Trail said police will hold a briefing at Lansdale Borough Hall at 8:30 a.m. Friday to provide an update to the investigation.
