Montco Man Accused of String of Vehicle Break-ins Across Area

A Montgomery County man was arrested last month after he allegedly entered and stole items from eight vehicles in Whitpain Township.

Nicholas Ciccarella, 20, of Norristown, has been charged with eight felony counts of theft from motor vehicles in connection with the investigation by the Whitpain Township Police Department.

On June 1, police were dispatched to the unit block of High Gate Lane after it was reported that there were multiple thefts from motor vehicles. According to the criminal complaint, the vehicles were reportedly entered sometime between May 31 to June 1.

Stolen items included a purse, various credit and debit cards, gift cards, sunglasses, a necklace and $130 cash, police said.

The report states Ciccarella was arrested by Lower Providence Township Police on June 2 on similar charges, and he later allegedly confessed to the thefts in Whitpain Township.

Ciccarella was arraigned on June 8 by District Judge James Gallagher, who set bail at 10% of $1,000 cash bail. He would later waive his preliminary hearing, and his next court appearance is a formal arraignment at county court on July 27 at 1:30 p.m.

Records show Ciccarella is facing hundreds of other similar charges stemming from arrests in East Norriton, West Norriton, Lower Providence, Norristown and other municipalities within the county. The majority of the charges are in relation to thefts from vehicles, receiving stolen property, prowling and loitering at night, and drug offenses.

He’s currently in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
