The recent explosion in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has cased the Court of Common Pleas to suspend jury trials.

Late last week, Bucks County President Judge Wallace Bateman signed an administrative order halting jury trials through Monday, February 28.

Other court activities will continue to run as scheduled.

Jury duty brings large numbers of people to the Justice Center in Doylestown Borough and jurors have to sit in close proximity during cases.

In 2020 and early 2021, jury trials were suspended at times due to COVID-19 cases. Jury trials last resumed at the Justice Center on March 31, 2021.

COVID-19 and related delays have caused backlogs of cases in the courts throughout the pandemic.

Bucks County has seen record numbers of COVID-19 cases is recent weeks. Those numbers have begun to decline but hospitalizations and deaths remain high.
