A North Penn Class of 2018 graduate has been identified as the driver involved in a fatal vehicle crash that occurred in Tobyhanna Township early Sunday morning.
Emma Schultz, 21, formerly of Lansdale, was traveling along Route 940 around 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 9 when she lost control of her vehicle, veered off the road and struck a tree, according to a report by Hannah Phillips at the Pocono Record. Schultz was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Emma was a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend who touched the lives of those around her,” her family said.
According to her obituary, Emma was “a committed advocate for all who experienced any form of bias or injustice, regardless of ethnicity or gender.” Prior to her death, she was working for Sanofi Pasteur and residing in Pocono Lake.
In the days since the crash, a GoFundMe has been launched to aid Emma’s family with funeral costs.
“We are all devastated by this loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service,” the family said. “We want to give Emma the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes.”
To date, the campaign has raised $9,755. To donate to the family, click here.
