The former boyfriend of a Norristown woman found shot to death in her apartment Monday afternoon is wanted in connection with her death.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Norristown Police Chief Derrick Wood said Tuesday a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Elvyn Almodovar Rodriguez, 32, of Norristown, for the murder of Keishla Arroyo-Rodriguez, 28.

At about 4 p.m. Monday, according to officials, the victim’s 7-year-old daughter looked under the locked bathroom door in their apartment on the 800 block of W. Main Street, saw her mother lying on the floor and called her father, who called 911. Police found her lifeless on the bathroom floor, according to officials.

Investigators found that Rodriguez moved out of the apartment just before Christmas after the victim broke off their relationship, according to the criminal complaint. The 7-year-old, who was in the apartment with her two siblings, ages 3 and 5, told detectives that she saw "Elvyn” enter the apartment and go into the bathroom where her mom was showering, police said. She heard several bangs, then saw the defendant come out of the bathroom, take car keys out of a drawer and leave the apartment, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, Arroyo-Rodriguez had told her daughter’s father, just before the end of her relationship with the defendant, that Elvyn Rodriguez had punched her in the face.

An autopsy performed Tuesday found that Arroyo-Rodriguez died of a single gunshot to the head, and the manner of death was homicide. "This murder of Keishla Arroyo-Rodriguez, a mother of small children, is a horrific ending to a domestic violence situation,” said Steele. "We are asking the public to help us find Elvyn Rodriguez and bring him to justice.”

Elvyn Almodovar Rodriguez is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, third-degree murder, burglary, theft, endangering the welfare of children and related charges. He is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. He is thought to be driving the victim’s car: a silver Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plate LGV-4683. Rodriguez is considered armed and dangerous.
