Manna on Main Street’s ‘Race to End Hunger’ Registration Opens

(The following information was provided by Manna on Main Street.)

After two years as a virtual-only event, Manna on Main Street is holding their 11th Annual Race to End Hunger on Saturday, April 2, with both in-person and virtual participation options. Race registration is now open and accessible by clicking here.

The in-person, professionally chip-timed 10K and 5K races, as well as the Fun Run, start and end at Knapp Elementary School in Lansdale. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate, as are persons with strollers and dogs on leashes. Manna will follow CDC guidelines related to COVID-19 in the operation of the race.

Virtual runners can participate anytime, anywhere.

Early registration is available from now through Feb. 15. Regular registration is available from Feb. 16 through April 2, including 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on race day.

All proceeds from the race benefit Manna on Main Street, the North Penn area’s largest nonprofit working to end hunger. Manna’s programs include a soup kitchen, food pantry, emergency financial assistance, and Common Grounds Food Service Training Program.

“This family-friendly event is our biggest annual fundraiser, and all proceeds go toward Manna’s mission of ending hunger in the North Penn region,” said Sheldon C. Good, Manna’s Director of Development and Strategic Direction. “Each year, the community comes together for a day of excitement and exercise, and we hope you will join us for this wonderful event either in person or virtually.”

In 2021, 324 individuals participated in the race, including virtual runners from various parts of the United States and the North Penn area.

Team and individual fundraising opportunities are available along with exciting prizes, doubling participants’ impact for Manna. The top fundraising prize is an encounter for six people with the giraffes and four people with the sloth at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown. Individual prizes are Manna-branded items such as duffle bags, picnic blankets, and shell jackets. More information on fundraising is available here.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, with exciting benefits and recognition options both electronically and on race day. Sponsors in 2021 included PDC Machines, Brittany Pointe Residents Association, CM3 Building Solutions, and KJ Plastics.

Manna is committed to ending hunger in the North Penn region by providing food, fulfilling social service and education needs, and conducting community outreach. Through a food pantry and soup kitchen, emergency financial aid, counseling and referrals, and education opportunities, Manna serves those in need with the hope that everyone might be fed.

Along with Advanced Living Communities, the North Penn YMCA, and The PEAK Center, Manna is a founding partner of North Penn Commons.
