Norristown Farm Park Announces January Events

Montgomery County's Norristown Farm Park has announced upcoming educational and family-friendly events scheduled for January.

Create a Snow Globe

Saturday, January 8, 11 a.m.

One of the best parts of the winter season is the snow! Come celebrate the season by creating a snow globe. Pick your own figurines and glitter, then take it home. *Limited space is available, and registration required*

Ages 6 – Adult; $5

Pennsylvania Predators 

Saturday, January 15, 2 p.m.

Join Ranger Jake to learn all about the top predators in Pennsylvania. Discover where they live, what they eat and much more. Touch some awesome animal artifacts and replica paw prints. This will be in an indoor space to use a PowerPoint presentation.

All ages; Free

Full Moon Hike

Monday, January 17, 5 p.m.

Don’t let winter keep you indoors! Enjoy an opportunity to be in the park after sunset. View winter landscapes by the light of the full moon. Non-slip footwear is recommended. The hike will be about two miles.

Morning Bird Walk

Tuesday, January 18, 9 a.m.

Welcome to 2022! Start the New Year off by attending our monthly bird walk. Join our park staff and discover many species that are wintering at the Farm Park. Bring binoculars or borrow ours! Wear sturdy shoes for hiking.

All ages; Free

Homeschool- Tracks and Scat

Wednesday, January 26, 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Search for clues of the animals that call the Farm Park home. Learn how to identify different species' tracks and scat. Take a hike and use your new skills. We will be both inside and outside, if the weather is very cold.

Ages 7 – 16 with Adult; Free

Night time Sensory Hike

Friday, January 28, 6:15 p.m.

Animals that are active at night use senses differently than animals during the day. Come put your senses to work! Take a walk in the dark and discover adaptions animals use to survive.

All ages; Free

All programs have limited capacity, and registration is required. For meeting location and registration email Rebecca at [email protected]. Programs may be canceled at any time. You will be notified if you registered. All programs are outdoors, unless otherwise listed, dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

About Norristown Farm Park

Norristown Farm Park is a working farm in continuous use since colonial times. This 690 acre park is home to a wide range of plant and animal species. Within this bucolic setting you will find hiking trails, a cooperative trout nursery, picnic areas, forests, flood plains, fallow and working farm fields, wetlands and two stocked trout streams along with a number of historic structures the oldest of which, dates back to 1764. We offer a variety of public programs year round with topics based on the seasons. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to sunset.
