A Towamencin man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a pole in Hilltown Township, then resisted arrest and assaulted police officers who were attempting to take him into custody.
Noah Reynolds, 33, has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault against designated individuals and assault by a prisoner, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and DUI, in connection with the Feb. 21 incident.
Police were dispatched to the area of Blooming Glen and Rickert roads at 8:08 p.m. for a report of a single vehicle crash into a telephone pole. Arriving police encountered the driver — later identified as Reynolds — running away from the scene in the opposite lane of travel, at which point Reynolds was stopped, according to the criminal complaint.
Police described Reynolds as having slurred speech with glassy, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. When asked how much he had to drink, Reynolds allegedly said “a couple of drinks.”
The report states that Reynolds failed a series of field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. At that time, Reynolds refused to consent for a blood draw, requested his lawyer and requested to speak with his friend who was a Pennsylvania State Trooper, according to the complaint.
Reynolds was then placed into the rear of a patrol vehicle, at which point he began to resist arrest and prohibited police from closing the door, the report states. After police were able to secure him in the patrol vehicle, Reynolds began to bash his own head into the rear passenger-side window, causing police to reopen the door to prevent him from harming himself, according to the complaint.
Reynolds then kicked a police officer in the head as they attempted to put leg shackles on him, and he then kicked the rear door of the vehicle, causing damage, police said.
Police said they then transported Reynolds to their station and placed him in a cell, at which point he allegedly spit in the face of another officer.
Reynolds was arraigned the following morning and is currently being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10% of $100,000 cash bail. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on May 3 at 1 p.m. in front of District Judge Regina Armitage.
