Radiant Beer Project Taproom Proposed for Souderton Train Station Freight Building

A taproom and food truck service could be coming to the freight building at the former train station in Souderton, if Radiant Beer Project is successful in its proposal before Souderton Borough Council, according to Bob Keeler of The Reporter.

With Souderton’s mayor and council president throwing support behind them, Radiant Beer Project looks to be the new neighbor of Northbound Restaurant at the train station property. Brody Bisson, a co-owner of Radiant and head brewer at Co-Hops Brewery & Cannery on North Penn Road in Hatfield Township, accompanied to the meeting by Radiant Head of Sales Rachel Gates, told council that the business has “grown so much” through the pandemic that it needs a taproom to thrive.

Co-Hops promotes itself as the first public contract-only brewing facility. It has a tasting room open Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. It partners with Radiant, Blueprint Brewery, Boardroom Spirits, Bucks County Brewery, and Jim Thorpe Brewing Company.

Radiant has been operating two years without a taproom. Meanwhile, it has been doing contract brewing and canning beers at Co-Hops, per the report. Bisson told council the pandemic and shutdown was a benefit to Radiant because they could build a business the opposite way.

According to the report, Souderton Connects told Radiant about the vacancy of the freight building. The borough leases the train station and buildings from SEPTA, according to Keeler, and then subleases the space.

Gates said their “heart is set on the freight building” because of its history and quaint appeal.

“We want to grow with you guys and we’re super excited to get started,” she said. “We love the building. It’s so charming.”

There is a plan to have food trucks at the taproom. Read more on the proposal here.

Radiant Beer Project has 16 beers in its repertoire, including Glowing Grove IPA, Predestined Visitor Hazy IPA, Seascape Horizon session IPA, and RBP Blueberry Lemonade fruited sour ale. Check out all the beers here.
