For the past 37 years, Dr. Douglas A. Gehman has been serving the chiropractic needs of Lansdale. During last Wednesday’s borough council business meeting, Lansdale Chiropractic Center was named Lansdale’s Business of the Month for December.
Lansdale Chiropractic Center is located at 606 West Main Street between Cannon and Towamencin avenues. It has been owned and operated by Gehman with support from his wife, Mary, since 1985. Mary has been the office manager since then.
Gehman grew up in Harleysville, graduated from Souderton High School in 1978, and attended Penn State University for his pre-Chiropractic college science prerequisite. He then went to Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, GA, where he graduated cum laude in 1983.
In 1984, he did his internship with Dr. Karl Hayes, a doctor of chiropractic medicine and a diplomat of Applied Kinesiology.
In 1980, he met Mary at Long Beach Island, and they were married in December 1981 in the Catskills.
As a chiropractor, Gehman works primarily with his hands to help improve joint mobility and stability and decrease pain. He helps remove any nerve interference to help his patients’ bodies to heal themselves.
When necessary, he recommends home exercise programs and makes appropriate nutritional recommendations to complement each individual patient’s treatment plans and health goals.
Many of Gehman’s patients meet with him for chiropractic adjustments on a regular maintenance schedule to remain in the best shape possible.
