Police Seek Assistance Identifying Man Struck by Train in North Wales Last Weekend

Upper Gwynedd Police are seeking public assistance in identifying a man who sustained severe injuries last weekend after being struck by a Septa train along the railroad tracks behind Wissahickon Avenue.

First responders were dispatched to the scene around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 for a report of a subject severely injured after being struck by a train. The unidentified man was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in in critical condition, police said.

The victim had no identification on him, and investigative efforts have led police to believe the victim may be Mario Vargas, of Xochitepec, Guerrero, Mexico. Police have released an image of whom they believe the victim to be.
