$5,000 Raised for 16 Local Families Via Souderton-Telford Rotary Club’s Candy Canes and Cocktails Event

The holiday season just got brighter for 16 local families after $5,000 was raised at the Souderton-Telford Rotary Club’s Candy Canes and Cocktails event.

The donation helped to fund the Franconia Township Police Benevolent Association’s (FTPBA) annual Shop with a Cop event. During the event, officers — accompanied by “elves” from the Souderton-Telford Rotary Club, students from the Souderton-Telford Rotary Interact Club, Franconia Insurance and Financial Services, JBS USA, and Souderton Area School District employees — helped the families shop not only for presents for under the tree, but also necessities like paper towels, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and diapers.

The Franconia Township police officers were joined by officers from Telford Borough and Hatfield Township, while Souderton Borough’s officers provided back-up coverage during the event.

After the event, everyone gathered at Souderton Pizza and Pasta for lunch and additional gifts were distributed, including a box of K’nex toys for each family.

Donations for this year’s Shop with a Cop were also received from the Telford Area Community Aid Foundation and Indian Valley Bulk Carriers.

The Souderton-Telford Rotary Club is engaged in projects and acts of service. Visit www.souderton-telfordrotary.com for meeting locations and more information.
