UPDATE: Dec. 18, 10:12 p.m. - Two corroborating sources tell North Penn Now that Philadelphia Police followed a homicide suspect to the area, which has resulted in the massive law enforcement presence near Main Street and Valley Forge Road.

It is believed the suspect is inside of the car which is currently surrounded.

Original story follows...

A heavy police presence has been observed in Lansdale Borough late Sunday night including what is believed to be a Philadelphia Police Helicopter.

Reports of police activity near the intersection of Valley Forge and Mill roads began just after 9:30 p.m. with many area residents taking to Facebook to report a low-flying helicopter shining a spotlight in the areas around Valley Forge Road and Main Street. One witness with a clear view on the ground posted a video of a heavy police presence and said there is a standoff involving a suspect who will not exit their vehicle.

We have not been able to corroborate that account, and Lansdale Borough Police have not issued any statements at this time.

The nature of the incident is currently unknown, however residents and motorists should avoid the area to be safe. The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety dispatched two ambulances to the scene at 9:51 p.m., however minutes later the incident was removed from the county webcad.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
