UPDATE: Dec. 18, 10:20 p.m. - Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail has provided North Penn Now with additional information.
Trail said Philadelphia Police reached out to Lansdale Borough Police for assistance locating a person of interest involved in a homicide. During the course of providing that assistance, Lansdale Police located the person of interest, and it was determined they were deceased.
Reports of police activity near the intersection of Valley Forge and Mill roads began just after 9:30 p.m. with many area residents taking to Facebook to report a low-flying helicopter shining a spotlight in the areas around Valley Forge Road and Main Street. One witness with a clear view on the ground posted a video of a heavy police presence and said there is a standoff involving a suspect who will not exit their vehicle.
We have not been able to corroborate that account, and Lansdale Borough Police have not issued any statements at this time.
The nature of the incident is currently unknown, however residents and motorists should avoid the area to be safe. The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety dispatched two ambulances to the scene at 9:51 p.m., however minutes later the incident was removed from the county webcad.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
