A Whitpain Township man is facing misdemeanor charges of
endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and recklessly endangering
another person after he whipped a teenager with a power cord because he was not
listening to him, police said.
Saad Eleida, 48, of the 1200 block of Whitpain Hills, Blue Bell, was arrested by police on June 7, according to a criminal complaint. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, set by District Judge Suzan Leonard the next day.
Police were dispatched around 8:15 p.m. after a teenager reported he was hit with a power cord on his arms and legs, allegedly by Eleida, police said. Eleida told police the boy was not listening, so he hit him with the cord, police said.
The victim had red marks and swelling on his left arm and left leg, police said, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Eleida showed police the cord he used in the alleged incident, police said.
Eleida’s preliminary hearing is June 24 before District Judge Leonard. He also faces a summary charge of harassment, according to the complaint.
