The Civil War is coming to the Peter Wentz Farmstead on September 17 and 18, 2022! Visitors are invited to experience how the War affected society from both a military and civilian perspective.
Battery F First Pennsylvania Light Artillery will be camping on site all weekend, demonstrating life as a soldier in the Union army. Attendees will be able to learn how civilians aided the war effort by meeting members of the U.S. Sanitary Commission.
On Saturday, the Fort Delaware Cornet Band will entertain visitors with performances throughout the day. UGR3Day Underground Railroad Experiences, Inc. will spotlight the stories of enslaved freedom-seekers. The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center will present their new exhibit, J.F. Hartranft and the Schwenkfelder Experience in the Civil War.
The Fort Delaware Cornet Band and UGR3Day Underground Railroad Experiences, Inc. will be on site Saturday only.
This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required. A $2 donation per person is suggested. Visitors should follow current County COVID guidelines, which can be found here
About Peter Wentz Farmstead
Peter Wentz Farmstead, a restored 18th century Pennsylvania German historic site, is owned and operated by Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites and receives support from the Peter Wentz Farmstead Society. The site is regularly open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with guided tours offered on the hour. The last tour begins at 3 p.m. Tours must be reserved in advance and may include no more than 6 people in a group. The Peter Wentz Farmstead is located at 2030 Shearer Road in Lansdale, PA 19446.
