Robbing two banks for a total of $8,000 has cost a 23-year-old Towamencin Township man two to four years of his life.
According to Carl Hessler Jr. of The Reporter, Moliere Junior Joseph, of the 1100 block of Snyder Road, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of robbery for robbing two banks in Abington and Philadelphia between January and February of 2022. Judge Virgil B. Walker sentenced Joseph to two to four years in state prison and ordered two years’ probation after parole, per the report.
Furthermore, Joseph must pay back $8,268.
Joseph’s guilty plea agreement meant that five other felony counts and two misdemeanors were dropped, per MSN.com.
According to Abington Township Police, on Feb. 10, 2022, Joseph robbed the Abington Santander Bank, 1415 Old York Road, by presenting a demand note to tellers. Joseph was identified through forensics, but detectives spent weeks tracking him down, as he was homeless, police said. At the time of the robbery, Joseph had an active arrest warrant for the robbery in Philadelphia, police said.
Eventually, Joseph gave up and turned himself in on March 15 at 8:30 p.m. at Abington Police station.
According to msn.com, Joseph had robbed Krewstown Road First Trust Bank in Northeast Philadelphia in January.
In both robberies, reports said, he covered his head and face and pretended to have a weapon on him.
