Mark your calendar and attend these Founders Weekend events hosted by the Lansdale Historical Society.
An Art Show and Sale at the Jenkins Homestead, 137 Jenkins Avenue, will take place on Founders Day, Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Take a tour of the Homestead and Research Center and see artwork of seven artists with connections to Lansdale, including Sen. Edwin Holl, Albert Rue Bailley, Judy Boyles, George Clouser, Davis Gray, Marian Haas and Chuck Kinter. Sen. Holl’s watercolors will be exhibited with many available for sale. Tours and exhibits are free, and proceeds from the sale of artwork will benefit the Lansdale Historical Society. There will be a kids’ table with crayons and pictures to color and display in a “clothesline” show before taking them home.
Then, don’t miss the official dedication ceremony of the 120-year-old SEPTA Lansdale Passenger Train Station, marking its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. The ceremony will take place at the station, 80 West Main Street, on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. Guest speakers will be on hand, and there will be a display of the station’s history inside the building. Light refreshments will be served.
