Hilltown Man Arrested After Entering Random Home, Getting Slapped by Homeowner, Police Say

A Hilltown man was arrested in June after he allegedly entered a random home on Minsi Trail, was subsequently slapped by the homeowner then fled the scene on foot.

Hilltown Township Police were dispatched at 12:25 a.m. to the scene of a home burglary. According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police that the suspect — a white male wearing a black shirt and jeans with long dark hair — entered his home through an unlocked front door, at which point they slapped the suspect, who then took off on foot toward Blue School Road.

No items were stolen, according to the report.

Police said they later found the suspect — identified as 43-year-old Christopher Moyer —riding a bike on Minsi Trail and stopped him because he matched the suspect description.

In a conversation with police, Moyer denied entering the home, the report states. Police then brought the victim to Moyer’s location and confirmed that Moyer was the subject who had entered their home, according to the criminal complaint.

Moyer then allegedly changed his story and said that he was asking the homeowner if he could use the bathroom because he did not want to go outside.

As a result of the investigation, Moyer was charged on Aug. 2 with one felony count of criminal trespassing.

Moyer was arranged on Aug. 2 under District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at $50,000 unsecured. His next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing on Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. in front of Judge Armitage.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
