Towamencin Daughters of the American Revolution Send Care Packages to USS Key West Submarine

The Towamencin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently shipped care packages to the USS Key West submarine, currently stationed in the Pacific Ocean.

Towamencin is one of 30 of Pennsylvania’s 95 chapters that participated in the State DAR Patriot Project called “Operation Big Mama,” and the packages are expected to be received by crew members sometime in October. Towamencin’s nine cartons were filled with food items, personal products, magazines and games, along with a note to the sailors thanking them for their courage and service.

Kathleen Zinskie, state chair of the Patriot Project, stated that the sailors are “far away from home and their days are monotonous and dangerous, 24/7 and no days off. Let’s brighten their days and let them know we care.”
