Grocery Outlet to Open Lansdale Store This Week, First 100 Customers to Receive Free Gift Cards

Like Vidalia Market and Super Foodtown before it, discount grocer Grocery Outlet Bargain Market hopes to bring affordable grocery shopping to an underserved part of Lansdale Borough and the neighboring municipalities when it opens its doors at the Pavilion Shopping Center to the public Thursday, April 28 at 7 a.m.

Independent owners and operators Todd Orr and Claudia Aguayo will hold a community ribbon cutting and donation ceremony at 9 a.m. Donation partners are North Penn School District and Manna on Main Street.

The first 100 customers will receive Grocery Outlet gift cards valued between $5 and $250, given at random. This week, the Lansdale Grocery Outlet is giving away free reusable bags with purchase. It is also offering customers a chance to win $1,000 (20 $50 reward certificates) in free groceries between April 28 and May 26.

The Lansdale Grocery Outlet is currently hiring, and applicants should email [email protected]..

Around this time last year, it was reported that Grocery Outlet – a California-based company with locations across the West Coast and about a dozen in Pennsylvania, including in Quakertown, East Norriton, and Warminster – signed a lease with Metro Commercial Properties to occupy the old Super Foodtown and Dollar Tree locations at the South Broad Street shopping center. The developer knocked down the wall between the grocery store site and the former Dollar Tree site. Dollar Tree moved to the old Pets Plus location, and Pets Plus moved to the far end of the shopping center at the old UFC Gym location.

Greg Jones, senior vice president of Metro Commercial, said last year that the grocery store-anchored shopping center “changes the world” and the tenants will thrive there.

Previous occupants include the aforementioned Super Foodtown, a New Jersey-based coop that opened at the Pavilion in May 2009 but closed only two years later, and the Vidalia Market Place, a locally owned store that ended a 14-month run at the location in August 2008, according to The Reporter.

A recent weekly circular for Grocery Outlet showed a variety of name-brand and generic food items: Fresh produce, Disney-themed Pyrex storage containers, Keebler cookies, Death Wish coffee, Bird’s Eye and Green Giant frozen food, Kraft cheese items, General Mills and Kellogg’s cereals, soups, condiments, keto, vegan, and NOSH (natural, organic, specialty and healthy) selections.

Grocery Outlet does not accept manufacturer coupons. It does not accept refunds or exchanges due to COVID-19 health concerns.

According to the Grocery Outlet LinkedIn page, Orr has a background as a UPS supervisor, an Information Technology project manager, a grocery store merchandiser, and a grocery store manager. Aguayo hails from Guadalajara, Mexico, and has a degree in Business Administration, according to LinkedIn.

Lansdale Grocery Outlet is located at 561 S. Broad St., Lansdale, and is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram @LansdaleGroceryOutlet.
