A student from North Penn High School is among three people killed in a pair of weekend shootings in Philadelphia, according to a report by 6ABC.
Police were dispatched to a shooting along the 3100 block of Berkeley Drive in the city’s Hunting Park section around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. Arriving officers found 17-year-old Theodore Crawford, of Hatfield, and an unidentified 18-year-old man inside of a Lexus suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the report.
The unidentified 18-year-old was transported from the scene to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Crawford, however, was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
No other details of the shooting were provided, and no arrests have been made, according to the report.
After becoming aware of Crawford’s death, North Penn High School Principal Pete Nicholson sent the following email to parents:
Dear NPHS parents and families.
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the recent death of NPHS senior Theodore (Trae) Crawford, this weekend. NPHS counselors, as always, are available to speak with students about this loss and the emotions they may be experiencing.
It is difficult for us to face death, especially that of a young person. In addition to guidance services available at NPHS, you may also want to talk to your child about this loss because it impacts each person in different ways. Resources to help you do this can be found here.
As both a principal and as a parent, I can think of no worse tragedy than the loss of a child and I know you join me in extending heartfelt sympathy to the family.
